liybie on "I can't get the debut theme to run the hero slider."

I have read the instructions on how to activate this feature. Going to Appearance, theme options, and then setting the hero slider. I click save, but when I return to my blog, nothing has changed. I even refresh the page, or log out of the whole browser and tried again. I even closed out the internet and walked away from my computer for hours, came back, nothing had changed. I tried again, it still didn't work. Am I doing something wrong, or misunderstanding what the hero slider is? I want the home page of my blog to look similar to the example of the theme, and what I understand the hero slider to be is the banner that changes images across the top of the page. Am I wrong? Please help.
